Constitution Party: "Bush Slaps Face of Believers, Conservatives
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE Lancaster, PA - President George W. Bush has slapped the face of conservatives and those who believe in God with his recess appointment of former Alabama Attorney General Bill Pryor to the U.S. Court of Appeals for the 11th District, Constitution Party National Chairman Jim Clymer said today. "Of all the people waiting to be confirmed for federal judgeships, it is stunning that Bill Pryor would be the president's choice for this extraordinary move," said Clymer. Pryor prosecuted former Alabama Supreme Court Chief Justice Roy Moore for refusing to remove a Ten Commandments monument from the Alabama Judicial Building and Moore was removed from office in October. "Bill Pryor was a professed Christian who had to choose between his Lord and his political career," Clymer said. "He chose his political career. By all indications, he was rewarded for prosecuting the Justice by the Bush administration which has been his behind the scenes opponent throughout his career." At the close of the hearing that led to Moore's removal, Pryor asked him if would continue to acknowledge God if he were permitted to continue in office. After Moore affirmed that, indeed he would continue to recognize God, and that he was obliged to do so under the Alabama Constitution he had taken an oath to uphold, he was formally removed from office. "Pryor will likely be a fine addition to a federal judiciary run amok," Clymer said. "Like many of his colleagues, he not only fails to recognize the religious principles underlying our laws, but is willing to ignore the Constitution which is based on them as well." Clymer said the Bush Administration believes conservatives "have no place to go" in the fall elections, other than to re-elect Bush. "But voters do have options," Clymer noted. "We are providing the principled alternative of voting for the Constitution Party's presidential candidate, Michael Peroutka." ### _____________________________________________________________________ The Constitution Party http://www.constitutionparty.com/ "To Achieve Victory, First You Must Seek It."
